LoRaWAN Wind Speed & Direction Sensor (PS-450)

Model: PS-450

A LoRaWAN wind sensor for farm weather stations reports speed and direction without cabled met masts. The PS-450 combines an anemometer and vane with a battery-powered LoRaWAN node — ideal for spray-window decisions, greenhouse vent control, and remote plot monitoring. PS-450 delivers wind speed, gust, and direction on the same LoRaWAN join as your soil and rain sensors — a minimal farm weather station without trenching power to a met mast. Document boom height during install so agronomists compare readings year over year across seasons and crop stages.

What is a LoRaWAN wind sensor?

Wind speed and direction drive spray drift rules, greenhouse vent automation, and crop stress models. PS-450 mounts on a field pole above obstructions with documented boom height. Uplinks include average and gust speed plus compass direction in decoder engineering units. Pair with PS-460 rain and PS-410 soil probes on one gateway for a minimal LoRaWAN farm weather station.

Site the anemometer pole above local obstructions with documented boom height — wind profiles near walls and tree lines are not comparable to open-field references. Use gust and average speed together for spray-drift decisions; average alone hides short peaks that move product off-target. Secure guy wires in coastal or exposed agriculture sites.

Decoder & Integration

Wind speed (m/s), direction (°), gust, and battery fields are specified for PS-450. Confirm mounting height and obstacle clearance in the installation guide before commissioning. Direction in degrees and speed in m/s decode to named fields for spray-window automation. Combine with PS-460 rainfall on the same application to avoid spraying ahead of incoming weather. Factory functional-test records and TTN/ChirpStack decoder maps ship with every kit. Map uplink bytes once on your network server, then reuse the profile across sites.
